Cleaned out my sediment bowl yesterday and when I reinstalled it and turned the fuel back on it would not fill up the bowl. In the manual it said something about the fuel return line's must be blocked but it does not show where the lines are or where they go.

Any help? Once someone tells me where they are can I just blow air back through them?

What i do is to leave the sediment bowl a little loose with a pan or bucket under it till it just starts to over fill then tighten it back up . This will keep from getting air in the system as much and keeps from getting a air lock in the sediment bowl. I hope this helps.

I have yet to figure out how the engineers expect a column of fuel with very low head pressure to push a colum of air downhill to get it back to the tank. That is the expectation on the Class III fuel piping. My solution is to remove the small return line from the top of the filter head and bleed the air off. When bubble-free fuel comes out, replace the line and enjoy your tractor. As a test, you can blow very low pressure air back through the line. Loosen the fuel cap first.

That's when a " hands off " engineer:( designs the system. In hydronic systems automatic air bleed valve, air separator and manual bleed valve are incorporated in strategic points of the system. Would be no different in fuel systems. I suppose a guy could tee off the return line at the highest point and put a manual air bleed valve for time like this.

At least you guys are making me feel better; I couldn't figure out how fuel was supposed to fill that bowl with everything sealed. I did just as FullPull and loosened the bowl a touch until it filled up. Still it started me wondering if my vent line is blocked. If I looked at the correct line it appears to have a T in it shortly after coming off the fuel filter, one line runs up towards the dash and the other looked to head back towards the fuel tank.

I probably service a couple of these tractors a month, and at over a buck a minute, I don't want to jack around with air in the fuel. My method is fast, and works. Class II's have the same style vent in the filter head, but the line goes straight up to the tank so it actually works.

As an aside that may be of some value to you, I had chronic problems with low fuel rate refill in my filter reservoir, only to eventually find out I had some contaminants in my tank that kept clogging the outlet at the bottom of the tank (this is a tc 35 I'm talking about). I would blow the line clear from time to time (which would work for a few days), only to have the problem return. There is no easy way to get that stuff out except to wait until you are nearly out of fuel (or siphon the tank) and then remove the pesky connector at the bottom. Out the junk will come.....

I learned from that point on to be extremely careful with preventing contaminants from getting into the tank to begin with!

Me too, I cut with scissor a 4"x4" piece of an old white t-shirt as filtering material and a funnel to fill my tractor's fuel tank. I know it takes a bit longer but end up with the clean fuel. I ended up taking the outlet valve from the bottom of the fuel tank to clean the tank and blow out the gunk that partially blocked the valve outlet.

Those are good points to keep in mind.

There is ableed screw just in front of the injector lines on the injection pump.
This will bleed the filter and the pump.
