Kubota L 3940
I have a Kubota L 3940 change fuel filters several times without any problems today Monday started it up ran just fine, when i was done i decided to change the fuel filter sense i had the heat on in the shop.Well did it like i always did before took it out cleaned up bowl put in a new filter tightened up the threaded ring. According to the manual when you change the filter open up the air valve run it for 30 seconds or so close it and your good to go ! Well i cannot get it to start, i had it above idle a bit and a freind told me to open the throttle to around three quarter of so, I did and it tried to start but runs for about 5 to maybe 10 seconds and dies down and stops running? I ran the battery down a bit left it sit for a while tried again same thing. I did try to close the air knob closed and it would not even start opened it up again and it tried to run like before short burst and died? Fuel is good no water and it ran fine while i had it running moving a bit of snow , no issues at all. I am guessing i have an air lock some place why i do not know, never happened before. I can use some help! Bad part i could take it in but how do you do that if it is not running to load it one trailer?? let me know if any of you have had this, which i am guessing some one has thanks Eddie

If the problem didn't appear until you replaced the fuel filter is there any possibility the new filter is defective? If the old one was okay put it back and see what happens. I'm assuming you turned the fuel back on and don't have any air leaks.

Agree with ^^

at least take the fuel filter off, check it and the bowl and the o ring and then reinstall it. Maybe it didn't go on right the first time and air is getting in. Doesn't hurt to try.

Well tore it apart again today Tuesday bought all new orings and filter, I was not aware there was two o rings in my filter, one large one to seal off metal cap, And another small one in side the top of the filter you cannot see other than looking a a print set up of filter parts at the dealer. the small o ring was the problem dry and cracked, I have never changed it because i did not know it was there. Thanks to the guys at the Kubota shop, i listened to them and finally got it running. The small o ring inside was the problem, fuel pump trying to get enough fuel to the injectors and could not do so because sucking air not fuel!!
