Oil & Fuel fuel filter

went to change fuel filter today, after tractor began to 'stumble' a little, and , lo and behold, upon removing the top of the cannister, guess what, no filter inside!! I bought this tractor 2 weeks ago on ebay and never dreamed the owner had removed filter element and never replaced it. Wonder how much crap is in pump and injectors??? I need a filter 2 1/4 " diameter, 3.0 " tall with5/8 hole in center. tractor is 2 cyl, 27 hp, similar to 2210, but older. It is 70's generation and does not use spin on filters, oil or fuel. Any help with Wix or Napa numbers would b e greatly appreciated. I am stuck til I get new filter element.

Maybe if you gave the actual model number of the tractor, someone could be of more help.

How do you know the filter size if you don't have one. A model # would help, but you might try a Napa 3262.

Was that a 'New Factory Reconditioned' tractor?

I don't know of any Yanmar fuel filters with 5/8 ID.

On my tractor the previous owner had discarded the entire Yanmar filter assembly and was running a generic NAPA filter. Since it was dirty I replaced it immediately with a similar one - see attached photo. I suggest this is the simplest way to get your tractor back in use.

It took me a couple of months to locate real Yanmar fuel filter parts to get my tractor back to authentic.

re: fuel filter woes. Model # is YM 276-11267, stamped on left side of clutch housing. Eng # 2W90S-10131, on left side of engine block.

I put your engine model into Google and got a couple of hits.

1) an old ebay listing:
PARTS CATALOG/MANUAL FOR YANMAR 2W80-2W90-2W8

Then I searched this yanmar forum on '2W80' and found a thread where a YM177 owner was looking for a manifold:
yanmar ym 177 HELP!

He was advised that his tractor was a little older than the ones usually imported but he eventually found the parts he needed. I suggest search here and Google on all three engines listed above and all spelling variations of relevant tractor models, YM 177 D etc and you will probably find more info leading to parts for your tractor.

Here you go. Probably the simplest solution.

Diesel Fuel Filter, Bowl and Mount

I bought one of these, described as 'Yanmar Diesel Fuel Filter, Bowl and Mount' but it won't take Yanmar filter elements. They told me they stock replacement elements.

It worked fine while I continued to look for the correct Yanmar filter assembly.

There is an extra fitting for the fuel return line used on some tractors. I sawed that off flush, tapped the opening, and installed a screw sealed by an o-ring to make an air-bleed port since there was none.
