Dye or no dye, the only difference is just that. There is no difference in the fuel. Cetane, sulfur, its all the same fuel and dye is added to indicate no road taxes are paid. It will not hurt your equipment period. If it did then the farmers with hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment that runs on diesel would be pretty upset. The amount of diesel you will buy for such a compact tractor won't amount to a hill of beans so buying red dye diesel will save you a few bucks a year, but in the end you will buy diesel wherever its convienient. Its always recommened to buy it at the higher volume stations to ensure its integrity. As far as #1 diesel vs #2 diesel, that will be detrermined by your climate. I have never seen #1 diesel in California, but know it exists were its colder. Even up at Lake Tahoe near where I live they sell #2.
