Fuel Gague

Hello,

I have a 2018 MF 1726E. The fuel gauge always shows full. I looked around and found pictures of the severed cable.

Does anyone know if this is something I can just order, splice the cable, and reattach? I am assuming this is the reason the fuel gauge is not working.

I think I can bring it in for warranty but I am having a hard time on paying for towing fees back/forth for what I think should be a simple fix. Thanks in advance for any insight!

You can probably splice it together using crimp on bullet connectors and color match wires....

Or find appropriate two prong connector and just replace damaged/missing parts.... Something from local auto parts may work or from online sources....

I don't think warranty will cover physical damage like that. I'd probably strip the wire back, twist, solder, and heat shrink.

Thanks everyone for the help. I bought aftermarket attachments and also tried to direct connect the wires. When I turn on the power, it makes a fast clicking noise and the fuel gauge still shows full.

Does this make and sense?

It makes sense; Are you SURE the spliced wires are connected in the correct polarities? Are you SURE they even go to the fuel gauge? What does the fuel gauge read with the key off?

Yeah, I am sure I got red/red and black to black. I even did it without connectors and got the same results. When the wires are disconnected and I turn it on, the fuel gauge shows full no matter what. It is an electronic gauge.

Typically a gauge will show full when open circuit from sender...

Is fuel tank plastic, do both wire go to sender?

Black wire should be ground to sender... Red (pink) wire should be return from sender to gauge.... What is "ticking"?...

If you short black to red (pink?) on gauge side wiring what does gauge do when key on...
