My 110hr 3720 Cab. fuel gauge is showing "full" when it's not. Before I call the dealer with a costly repair and pick up, I'm wondering if any of you guys had this problem only to find out it was something simple. It will "self check" on start; found and pulled/checked the fuze (don't know how to tell if it's bad though) also it seems to be plugged in okay under the rear fender. I'm willing to invest some pocket change to try a few simple things. Please don't get too tech...no mechanic nor engineer here.
Many thanks.

Has your fuel gauge always worked this way? I have a 3720 cab tractor and when I fill the tank the fuel gauge shows full for a long time before it starts dropping and then it drops fairly fast with use. Mine has always worked this way but it doesn't bother me because when the gauge shows low the tank is low and it's time to add fuel.
If your gauge always indicates FULL irregardless of the amount of fuel in your tank then something is awry.

Hi, I have checked out a few of these on cab 3000s. Due to the odd shape of the tank the guage works a little funny ,this is normal . Sunnyside is correct I think.:)

Thanks Guys...I was kinda thinking the same thing. I recall it taking a long time to move the needle off Full. My test was: it's about a 12 gallon tank and it took five gallons. Do you still think with needing 5 gallons, it would read "Full"...I'm just not sure?

Never tried that test, but mine takes about 10 gal to fill when the gauge is going into the low red zone and the display is flashing LO FUEL.

Just to follow up and you all helpful people know...you're right...after brush mowing for about 4 hours, the needle started to move...continued to move down to 1/4 of a tank...put 5 gallons in and it read "full". still learning! :)

Actually, there isnt a float in the tank of the 3000 series machines. There is an electric fuel sensor that can go out (has happend to my dads 3720) and it will always read the same. Replacing it costs about $200 from John Deere, thats why we just live with looking in the tank to see how much fuel it has and since it gets dirty, just mark a line in the dust on the dash (OS tractor) to show where the fuel is. Once it gets to the Ehydro sticker, i make sure we fill it up. We've run it out of fuel once, luckly with the electric fuel pump it started right up. The sensor is located in a very inconvenient spot which takes an hour dissassemble to get to.
