Oil & Fuel Fuel Gauge

All of a sudden My fuel gauge quit working. It shows empty all the time. Tractor is a Massey Ferguson 240. Is there a way to tell if it is the gauge or the sending unit?

Probably neither.
Bad contacts, grounds etc. Try those first.

If yours works like the older MF 100 series you may have a bad float. The dash gauge should read full when the sending unit wire is grounded with the engine running.

You were correct. The float was full of diesel fuel. Tried buying one off E bay, but no one could match the # on the old sending unit. Tractor was made in Great Britain. Went to our local AGCO dealer and luckily he had one. Cost was only $36 more than from an eBay seller. Thanks for all the info.
