I have a tc-30 when you turn the key part way to start, the fuel warmer comes on and preheats the fuel. where is the warmer located?

I’ve had no luck confirming the existence of a fuel heater. Are you sure it’s not glow plugs? If so they’re where you’d expect to find spark plugs if a diesel had them.

Big 10-4 (agree) I've never heard of a fuel heater. I've seen a heavy fuel return line that helps a little once you get warmed up. I myself would have to guess he is referring to glow plugs..

Unfortunately you are confusing a fuel heater found on some 18 wheelers with the equipment on your tractor.

This Bosch video gives you a good idea of what the GP's do. Don't go changing your engine's GP's for different models of GP's as you can do a lot of engine damage

Bosch Glow Plugs - YouTube

Your tractor has the Shibaura N843 engine
The workshop manual is available on line at this link.
Hustler Shibaura S773L N843 N843L Service Manual 19823 ;)9 | Piston | Cylinder (Engine)

Go to section 5-2 and you will see an illustration showing where the three glow plugs are located. One for each cylinder of your 3 cylinder engine..

Do you have an owner's manual for your tractor? If you do it should tell you how your glow plugs operate..

Some are controlled automatically by a GP controller. Others, probably like yours, are controlled manually. Usually there is a Glow Plug indicator which glows red as the GP's heat up.

Are you having starting problems or what brought you to this forum?

Some engine designs actually have a heat element in the air intake system* rather than in the cylinder heads.
As the vaporised fuel is ingested it passes over that heated zone and it ignites when it gets compressed.
I think they have 2 methods, one being a grid of sorts and the other being a glow plug like affair.

Older designs also had an external pot of sorts that a small qty of fuel was lit to heat things up.

* for this reason a hair dryer seems to work when all else fails.(like pre heat the air B4 ingestion)

Actually diesel pickups have fuel heaters. On my Dodge Cummins they are part of the fuel filter housing. I have not seen one on a tractor, but not impossible that here could be one. Most likely it is glow plugs he is looking for.
