Hey guys I got a 2001 bx2300 and its getting diesel in the oil. The dealer said the compression is fine and the tractor runs good. He had it running for 45 min. at half throttle and said other then the gas oil mix it runs fine. What could be the problem?

Not good /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif…I had that same problem on a ZTR mower…

It may be your fuel pump… Not too expensive to replace…

BUT it is most likely your injector pump… rather costly to replace… but if you have a good diesel injector shop around you can have it rebuilt… still not cheap, but may be worth rebuilding.

Get it fixed or you will have big problems resulting from the diluted engine oil.

On my mower someone mistakenly put gasoline in it. That roasted the pumps and stuck the engine… but it allowed me to buy the machine for pennies on the dollar.
The rebuild on the injector pump was $400.00 and I had to replace 2 of the 4 injectors. This was 5 years ago, on a Kubota 4 cylinder with less than 200 hours. I still have that mower it is now around 600 hours.
Good luck hope it is only your primary pump. KennyV.

Could easily just be leaky injectors that are worn out from using gasoline contaminated diesel fuel.

I had that problem with my JD820. Turned out to be the fuel pump was leaking. It was a fairly simple and inexpensive replacement, the biggest pain was bleeding the air out of the fuel lines. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For starters, there should be no gas/oil mixture. It is a diesel engine and should only have straight diesel fuel in the tank. Next, is the fuel pump can't be the culprit, because the BX uses an external electric fuel pump at the tank end. That brings us to the final question, how do you know that there is fuel getting into the lubricating system? Is the crankcase filling up beyond the full mark on the dipstick. I would do a complete engine oil and filter change and make sure that the correct amount of engine oil is installed and then watch it to see if the level grows. If it does, then you need to have the dealer figure out what is causing the problems. If it doesn't, then some unknown person put too much oil in the engine the last time. Last question..... could it be coolant that is leaking into the engine oil? This is a more likely problem since a bad head gasket could easily cause this malfunction. I would rule out a cracked block or cylinder head unless someone over heated the engine at sometime in the past.

You may be interested in discussions about fuel-in-oil with the earliest Ford Superduty 6.0 diesel engines ...this is a Ford-"improved" Navistar engine, where Ford initially spec'd fuel injectors that leaked ...note that 6.0L uses high pressure oil to drive injectors (like VW TDI) ...nonetheless, you may be interested ...see DieselStop.com ...solution was: test injectors, then replace w. new (upgraded and better plated) injectors. As suggested, steadily increasing oil level on dipstick is clue, as is smell of diesel on dipstick ...quite different than coolant!

Bad injector, spraying too much fuel into cylinder.

Thanks for the answers guys. SSorry about the late reply. The dealer did an oil change and ran it at full throttle for six hours and no problems. Ive used it for about 20 hrs since and no probs. Dealer can't figure out what happened.
