Fuel Line on 51 8N

Howdy Folks,

I have a 51 8N that someone has put an in-line fuel filter on. I have been reading that rubber hose next the the manifold is not a safe thing. So I just want to put it back to steel. I do have a coil of 3/16 brake line, would this work?

I have tried to search for fuel line size but could not find anything about it. I dont want to have to buy a special line if I can just make it. Thanks and have a good evening.

I bought a 30" brake line at oreillys it has the correct ends on it just bend to fit. You could make your own if you have the flaring tool and ends.

I do have a flaring tool but I don't think 3/16 line I have will work. I'm not a mechanic and I usually break more things than I fix but I have been doing more searching and believe that steel tubing is measured by the outside diameter and that the 8N fuel line is 1/4 line. So 30" X 1/4 brake line and I saw some where that the fitting is 7/16 X 24. I will call the auto parts store in town to see if they have it. Thank you.

1/4 is what you need and if they don't have 30" a 36" will work just have more bending to do.

Yup, they had a 30" one for $5.99. The fittings fit the carburetor fitting and I'm figuring the other will fit the bowl. There is a sticker on the line that says, PA-430.

Do you ever put any dope on the fittings or anti-seize?

i'd say that you'd have to be a dope to put dope on a flare fitting. the threads don't seal anything. it's the flange that mates up that seals.
