Fuel sender

I Have what I call a lazy fuel sender. When it decides to start working it's tome for fuel and it has been that way from the time I purchased new. I know what you are going to ask me and that is why now and not when I purchased, yes yourright but now it is without worse. I was wondering if any one has had this problem and should I just take it apart and look. Thanks
