Fuel shut off solenoid. Did not work

Replaced the fuel shut off solenoid. But still having intermittent shut off. Will run for 15 min to a couple hours. Let tractor sit a few hours and it will start back up. Getting 2.1 volts at the wire going to the shut off. I am stumped and getting peeved at this situation, Plus Mahindra doesn't warranty the fuel system after 2 years. Any suggestions??

Full disclosure here, I have no actual knowledge of Mahindra fuel shut off's, I have a very good working knowledge of my Kioti fuel shut off system..
That said, do you have the schematic? Does the fuel shut off solenoid have a relay that provides power for the solenoid, is there two coils to the fuel shut solenoid, a pull coil and a hold coil? 2.1 volts sounds like a problem. Burned contacts on the relay?. Step one to fixing any electrical problem is understanding how the circuit works. By analysis of the schematic, you form a hypothesis of the possible problem then make diagnostic measurements, like you have done, and then try to "break the circuit in half" and determine if the problem lies in one direction or the problem lies in the other direction.

If you have no schematic, getting one would be the first operation to complete. See if there is a theory of operation of the circuit listed in the troubleshooting section. Can you post the schematic here so I could help analyze it?

Just my 2 cents and it may only be worth that.

What makes you think it is the fuel shutoff solenoid? Solenoid could be losing power, some blockage of fuel some place, bad fuel pump/transfer pump, if you have one.

Well my first impression was that the tractor will not shut when he turns off the key, but the tractor continues to run for 15 minutes up to 2 hours after the key is turned off. Perhaps I misunderstood the problem?

Perhaps a better title to your thread would be "my tractor runs for an intermittent period of time and then shuts down by itself?"

Depending on which way the solenoid works, could the OP remove the solenoid and run the tractor to see if it still quits? That way he would be bypassing the whole shut off circuit for testing purposes. (or, does it have to be installed to run?)

You can jumper 12volts straight to the solenoid to get it back in if it stops out in the field. The solenoid requires 12volts to open the fuel flow to the injection pump. You should have a print in the back of your owners manual. You have to find out why you are only getting a couple volts to the solenoid. If you are not 'up' on electrical trouble shooting, stop and find a friend/neighbor to help you out. Most problems are pretty simple. Not trying to 'slight' your problem... but hang in there....
