Thanks Radio

The fuel filter canister has 2 o-rings, but the shutoff handle thst goes to the body assembly has 菟acking? o-ring, the handle, thrust plate, then the handle retainer. I知 thinking the o-ring & packing should do it...not sure if the thrust plate is soft material or not? also, since the tractor is 25 yrs old, wondering how easy the 2 screws in the handle retainer would be to remove? Have to take this off to access o-ring

Peters recommendation to buy the whole assembly and fuel canister would bypass having to take it apart.

Anyone ever replaced an o-ring on the fuel assembly before on a 25 yr old tractor ?

When I did the fuel filter on my grand L 4740 it did the same thing but my fuel tank was full. I think it has to do with the fuel draining from the return line. My old b7800 specified to make sure the tank was below 1/2 before servicing the filter. The manual for my grand L4740 didn't mention it but I probably should done it on an almost empty tank.

Thanks Mo

Jon, that痴 great info, bc i too removed fuel filter bowl w tank fully filled. Once i run her for some extended hrs, I値l test again and see if it happens when the fuel level is half full. I値l post back too. Thanks again, tstex

OR you can just install a fuel cutoff valve before the filter, open the one on the filter, and use the external one as your fuel valve, bypassing all this effort.. they are very cheap, i think $5

Thanks Radio / that's a great idea - assuming you just install the valve btw the inbound plastic tubing before the filter? Any make/model that you have used you like?

Yes, the return fuel line from the fuel filter has no shut off valve. If you open the bowl up it will drain out of the tank until level is below the return line. One time on my RTV the main fuel line was plugged and would only run off the return line until tank level went down and then the RTV would die..... hard to figure that one out
