So my fuel filter somehow sprung a pinhole leak. Pretty straightforward. Change it out and go. I put the new Wix crossover filter on and started it up. After about 10 seconds or less (Once all the fuel in the system was used up I assume) it wound down and stalled out. Maybe some of you can already see where this is going. Mind you, automotive repair is not my strongest field. I took the new filter off and it looked ok but also found that I had the correct model baldwin filter as well so just for laughs I put that one on but first I filled the cavity with fuel to prime it. Still nothing. And now to back up a bit, when I first approached the tractor I turned off the fuel supply which is on the sediment bowl and of course it was open when I turned the tractor over but I did notice a bit of debris in the bowl so I took it off and cleaned it. when I put it back on and opened the valve back up it only peed a tiny bit into the bowl and when I cranked the engine it never filled up even after cycling the valve a few times. Do i need to replace the bowl assembly with the valve? Thats my best guess on the problem. The tractor ran fine before I took the fuel filter off (aside from the pinhole) and as far as I know that fuel shut off has never been closed. Thanks for your help and sorry for rambling. I have a couple pics if needed but they only show a sediment bowl and a fuel filter. Not very exciting

You could also have debris in the tank blocking the sediment bowl. Under normal circumstances just cranking the engine will fill the sediment bowl by the lift pump. Some of these tractors come with an in-tank screen, in which you have to remove the sediment bowl to clean, or as most do, just remove it. If you find a black or brown sludge in the system you have diesel bugs, and I highly suspect they are guilty of the pin hole in your filter. They are highly corrosive.

Your fuel bowl should fill up as soon as the lever is switched back ON.

Just an FYI on my tractor the "ON" position is not where you would normally think it should go. Mine is drilled off lol, so ON is about 45 degrees rather than straight up/down or sideways for off... Makes for a REAL safety shutdown lol..

I think you just have a air lock. Prime and keep at it. Don't burn up your starter in the process.
