Any estimate on the fuel consumption difference between the 39hp and the 26hp? I wasn't sure how drastic, (or not drastic) it would be.
I've spoken to several dealers on a 39hp (DPF) and the 26hp (non-DPF) and none of them have voiced any concerns with the DPF. They said the issues have been addressed (I've found the service bulletin notice) and that any issues that do happen, are because people don't know how the DPF works and don't allow it to run.
I found a pretty darn good deal on an F3990, so I'm giving that a hard look over a new F2690. It's more mower than I need, but $$ savings might be worth it.
