Fuel usage for Isuzu 12.5 kw generator

I bought this 12.5 kw Isuzu diesel generator because of its low fuel consumption and price compared to other similar models. However, the usage over the year has been ridiculously low.

I topped it off today. It's used only 2.5 gallons. The hour meter shows 14.6 hours. Don't recall what it showed before the tank was filled. Couldn't have been much.

Figure it's been run around 10 hours, that I know about: 1/2 hour/month in routine runs for 15 minutes every 2 weeks plus one outage of 3 or 4 hours.

Low fuel consumption any way you slice it.

The oil on the dipstick is still bright and clear.

You will have a dependable generator for a long time. Were you able to get it with a enclosure ? How is the noise level. I know the Isuzu is nor cheap

I have a 12kW Kubota and I use about 1/2 gallon per hour at 50% load. I have absolutely no idea what my machine uses when just run with no load on it.

Just thought you might be interested as a comparison.

I have two gens but both are gas. One is a 8550 watt Troy Built and it uses 9 gallons in 24 hours.

The other is a Kohler 5000 watt and its thirsty. It uses 10 gallons in 24 hours. Its half as loud though compared to the Troy Built.

I looked on line at various diesels and their fuel consumptions. This is one reason why I bought the Isuzu, because its fuel usage was the lowest of almost any other.

It's also a gem in quietness. You really cannot tell it's a diesel. It has an enclosure, picture below.

Fuel usage on our old gas generator at 4 kw was 0.5 gph. It would run about 8 to 10 hours before needing refueled. The Isuzu has a 60 gallon belly tank. Should be good for 10 days.
