Kioti DK50SE w/ loader and Woods 90x backhoe, Allis Chalmers C with front snowplow
How are these tractors on fuel consumption?

Depends - which model are you considering?

I had a 3215 (comparable to a 3016) and it burned about 1 gallon an hour, maybe a little less. I've now got a 7060 - appears to burn about the same rate.

Varies greatly with what you are doing. The more you run at rated speed the less hours you get out of a tank. What are you planning on doing with it?

I realize that it depends on what you are doing and your engine rpms etc, what I mean is I have heard over the years that a certain brand tractor is hard of fuel or easy on fuel across the board. For example I have heard Belarus are really good on fuel even when pulling. I am looking to get something 30-40 horse for snowplowing, tilling, backhoe work, firewood etc. Not really anything to do with plowing or breaking ground other than the tiller and that will only be for a decent sized garden not fields or food plots

I was helping out a buddy and using his 2615 for "excavation". We used the tiller in the clay, then used the bucket to stock pile the now loose material, then repeated. Did that for three days on about 15 gallons of fuel. I was amazed that it had plenty of power, and burned that little of fuel.

My experience with diesels thru the years is that you pay for what you do... They are efficient at idle and moderate RPM's, but you make them 'do work' and they use fuel. Still, a lot more efficient than gasoline... I have not that much experience with the newer motors that are designed to operate at higher RPM... so can't say much about them. As far a brand to brand, cubic inch to cubic inch, 3 VS 4 cyl's, turbo, your result may vary.. :)

This pair doing hay in the summer are between 15 to 20 gallons a day.

My 2816 seems to burn roughly a gallon per hour. I have noticed that when bush hogging it seems to burn quite a bit more.

I think most tractors depending on what you are doing will burn a gallon per hour. This is based on an 8 hour work shift.
