Yes, #2 is furnace oil. Not to be confused with #1 fuel oil which is used for the old fashioned "stove" heaters. I do not believe #1 would do any damage to your tractor, but the BTU output is less consequently less power.

If you live in a colder climate you may have to do some treatment of the #2 fuel oil to avoid problems.

I thought so. Now I know that in a pinch I have a lot of tractor fuel available right next to the house.

1*So, how do you guys handle your fuel?
2*I use a galvanized funnel with a fine mesh screen in the spout.
3*It's interesting how much crud gets caught in the screen, even though I am careful to keep the cans tightly sealed and clean on the outside.

2*Don't use galvanized cans , pipe fittings or funnels with /for Diesel.
3*But you never see how much water the funnel is letting through it.
The only funnel i use is a mister funnel water separator funnel .

4*Can anyone confirm that no.2 fuel oil used for oil fired furnaces in homes is the same as diesel fuel suitable for use in our tractors?

4*Same stuff about everywhere.

I would stop running after fuel for the tractor and just use what you already have right next to the house.
