Does anyone have a full sized hoe that fits on the back of the 2000 series PT tractor?

Does the hoe come off easily also?

What is it like sitting right over the engine?

Thanks

i have a lackender hoe that can, with the change of a larger quick attach plate, fit any 14,18 and 2000 pt machine, it just so happen i have it on my old 425 and use it commercially /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

We have a 2445 with backhoe on rear. It can be removed in less than a minute, just flip two latches, push the hoe bucket on the ground, extend both stab jacks which lifts the hoe off its latch, disconnect the pto lines, turn off the rear pto, and drive away. Riding on the rear above the engine seems different than the low profile PTs, however you can see both front and rear frame at the same time, which helps in some cases. All the PT bucket loaders work the same way. They lift higher than their counterparts, but they are more top heavy than the low profile PTs.

Hi EB,

Wouldn't it be cheaper and just as effective buy a 425 and a nice lackender hydra hoe than a 2425? You would still have the lower center of gravity, ability to weld a receiver hitch on the back, and would not be sitting over the engine.

The hydra hoe could have a 8" and/or a 12" bucket and a thumb.

When power trac sells out of a model, how long do you have to wait to get one of the new ones?

Dave,

We have a 2445 which is 45hp Deutz diesel. I have not noticed excess heat in the seat of the 2445. We also use a 425 but without a mini-hoe. We do not have a 2425 but I would think the heat might be greater on a gas engine. I did notice the 2425 has a muffler wrap which should reduce the heat under the hood,(it helps on the 425). You could always add some additional insulation under the hood below the seat or a small 12v fan to blow out any excess heat.
I think someone in an earlier thread showed a 425 that they modified a backhoe off a 2425 to fit on front of the 425. Don't recall which one or if they said how well it worked.
It seems that PT makes production runs often on each model. As to design changes, I was told each machine is run thru redesign every 3 to 5 years, the 2425 is probally about due.

Ed has the backhoe on his PT425(or maybe it lives at another of his family members now.). I found the post and responded to ita again, so it is now near the top of the forum for a while.

I also have a 2445 with a backhoe. It is easy to mount or remove and I've had no problem with heat from the engine.

I will say the limited swing range is a bit of an irritation (60 degrees if I remember right). Aside from that it is powerful and digs good.
