While driving the other day, radio on, I heard a funny story.

A family was having a Thanksgiving dinner get together. The house was full of family and friends. It was a nice mix city folks visiting said family in their country home they recently aquired. Dinner was planned for some time off and the house was filled with goods smells of the up coming feast. Some had gathered in the kitchen to help, other were parked in front of the the game. The male host desides to step out and walk to the barn to poke around a bit and have a smoke. After a while in the barn, he looks out the window a spots a giant buck well off in the field. He sees many deer since living in the country but this is a beauty. He desides this is a fine op to get his deer and show his male friends and family what living in the country is all about. So he slips back to the house and gets his gun. He walks around the barn and a perfect clear shot. The shot is safely away from the house so He takes aim and shoots. The deer stumbles a bit and drops, nice kill. He instantly hears shreaks of horror. He drops his gun and runs towords the screams thinking something aufull has happened. As he turns the corner, his entire group of guests are standing there with camcorders camaras facing the deer in the field!

Was it a true story?

Two weeks ago we had a story on the local news channel that was funny in a weird sort of way. A guy hit a buck on the road with his car so hard that the antlers came off. He stoped his car and was standing there looking at the damage when another car drove by. The car drove over one of the antlers just right as to flip it through the air and into the guy who had hit the deer. It was a very large 10 point buck. VERY LARGE!! The antler stabbed him in the stomach region with several tines.

Luckily it wasn't fatal for him. The deer was dead on impact.

True story.

Eddy,

I don't know if it's true or not but, here in S. Indiana "it could happen!" We have so mant deer, it has become quite a problem. State parks are allowing hunts to save the forest from over grazing. They show photos of areas where every small tree and every bit of bark 5' and below is Gone. There are streaches of high ways where you can't go a few miles with out seeing road kill deer. The real problem is folks just don't hunt like they used to. High grade beef is just to affordable and deer is just too tough.

So Eddy, can we get you & Steph up here to help the cause?? It's a little bit colder up here but but you could bide your time next to the fire place and occassionaly peek out the window. Once you see the one you like, put on your coat and get it!
