I'm 99% sure I found this pic here on TBN a blue moon ago but cant find it again....
Where can a person find a "furrowing shank" or whatever you call it like in the middle of the attached pic?

I've got 2 furrowers I'd like to put on my toolbar but cant find shanks...

Thanks for any help.

You can order that part as a repair part for a KingKutter Middle Buster. They are about $39 each and KK's number is 177005. However, you might find it easier to order the part through Tractor Supply.

LEINBACH makes a furrowing attachment for their garden bedder. You might be able to make that work. Check it out at: Tractor Garden Bedder, Field Bedder, Hiller

I think you'll have to make it... I bought this one from Agri-supply but it is NOT in there online store. Found it in the outdoor "section" and thought $100 for that was not a bad price. If you want measurements, let me know. I like it since you can increase the depth of the blade.

I was (maybe still am) thinking about beefing it up with some 1/4" angle iron and painting it orange :D

Here is the company that makes the stuff I find in my local farm supply place:

Norwest Manufacturing

Looks like you can order right from them with PayPal or a credit card. Shipping to ME might be a killer.

If you look in the 'Tillage' section of the catalog I believe the 'Forged Foot Cultivator Shank' is what I used for my middlebuster. I also have some of these shanks but smaller that I bought for my cultivator and I run sweeps/shovels on it. A few pics in this thread:

That right there looks like a hand forged piece to me. Good sized anvil, a coal or gas hearth, a good sized hand sledge and a suitable piece of scrap in the hands of any self respecting smithy should be able to punch one out for you in a few heats. Check your yellowpages for local blacksmiths and farriers. You may find some very valuable people.
