Earlier tonight I asked for help troubleshooting my TC 30, which kept blowing a fuse. Here's what the problem was: 2 days ago a friend, while looking at the tractor (which I was cleaning up at the time) noticed that a couple of wires that looked like they should be connected were hanging loose. He pushed them together, and they fit nicely. Trouble is, he hooked the ground wire from the right tail light to a wire that went to the seat...I guess to the bypassed cut off switch. Apparently, the generally dirty condition of both connectors prevented them from making good contact, but this evening, they suddenly jarred themselves into proper alignment. The Fuse blew, the tractor stalled, and every time I replaced the fuse and tried to start it, the fuse blew again. My son came down and spent 2 hours trying to figure out what was wrong, and finally found the problem. Those 2 wires are now safely taped up apart from each other, and everything is fine.
Moral of the story? Don't let friends play with your tractor. I'm an old woman with no experience who instinctively thinks any man with a wrench in his hand is smarter than I am. Next time I'll tell him to keep his hands to himself!
