Still in the beginning stages of clearing my recently acquired 15 acres of land with my M7060. The land will be my future homesite and it has some very nice features including a hillside elevation change of about 500 ft. with about 5 acres of that being on the top of the hill and flat. It also is adjacent to 1500 acres of Wildlife Management Area.

Over the past six months I have also purchased quite a few things to assist in the clearing of the land. I started off by purchasing a truck that has proven to be invaluable thus far. Soon after I purchased a tractor from a local dealer and quickly opted to install a piranha tooth bar for the bucket to help speed up the sheering and cutting off of countless weeds that are taller than the tractor and other invasive brush that was left behind to grow after loggers cut the whole property in 2012. Within the past month I picked up a more than adequate box blade and a grapple which have been fantastic. So far to date Ive been able to clear / mow about 3 acres. Some discoveries along the way included a single wide trailer that I did not even know was on the property long since abandoned and falling apart. A lot of logging debris and trash from their operations.

My Current objective has been to clear and mow as much as the easier to access parts of the property as possible as the hillside section of the property has several fingers that split different directions making it more difficult to mow and see the stumps left at waist high through the 7' tall brush. Im hoping if we get freezing temperatures this year most of the soft brush will die off letting me see the stumps easier making the process much quicker.

Looking real good. Only thing I'd recommend is get yourself a quick hitch. It'll make life much easier

Thanks for sharing your future ! Nothing like being on a tractor...that said, make sure you keep the radiator clear of dust and debris. Easy to get clogged up and then overheat.

To the TBN forum Merca. Glad that you joined and a lot of people here willing to help.

I completely understand the clearing that you are doing but it seems you got all the right toys to help. Sometimes I bet it seems like you'll never get it all finished but it will look great when you do. The part I hate is having to keep it cleared as it will want to grow right back if left alone for awhile.

Thanks for the pictures as it helps us to understand what you are doing and the big task you have.

Making progress slowly over the past week. Finally got enough rain to lift the burn ban and I am able to start decreasing the amount of debris around a small portion of the hill top flat area of the property. I did some ripping of the ground to try to reduce the root debris with the box blade rippers but kept finding below grade stumps that finally caught one of the rippers on the outside edge of the box blade and gave it slight bend. Nothing a torch, hammer and anvil can't fix.

On another note does anyone happen to know what the species of this weed is. it has the white seeds like a dandelion and it LOVES my radiator grill and radiator. The whole property is covered in them ranging from 6-8' tall. I would also be interested to know if goats particularly like them as I plan to utilize them to cut down on majority of the over growth on the hill side.

Kind of looks like goldenrod after it's done blooming to me. Is it yellow in Spring?

Be sure to take out everything you can before you build. I've found that sometimes those questionable trees that are left alone become the problem trees you wish you had removed. I've never regretted taking out a tree, and I never miss it once it's gone, but I sure have regretted leaving some in place.

Welcome to TBN!!!!

Thanks for the pics. Your tractor is earning it's keep for sure.

I agree with Bret, get a rear QH and if necessary modify your equipment so it can be used. You'll never regret that!!!!

Look forward to seeing continued progress!!!

Sure does, Stuff is great at clogging up the radiator no matter if its soaking wet or bone dry. I plan to take out everything thats growing out of old stumps from when it was logged which is majority of the 1-4" trees on the property. They left some trees standing but others have extensive damage to limbs. One of the biggest things slowing me down is the amount of logging debris left behind that is semi rotten but enough of a issue to stop a bushhog or loose traction even in 4wd when driving over it.

I definitely plan to purchase a QH just have not had enough time to research. Any one have any objections with Land pride cat II QH's?
