I was thinking with the current US $/ Yen getting smaller and smaller and a lot of our resident importers calling it quits, what is the future outlook for part suppliers?

My YM2210 is 34 years old, will there ever come a time where I will be unable to find parts for it?

Are there enough in the US to where big suppliers like Hoye can stay profitable for years to come?

Just curious everyone's opinion on it, where you think its going and how soon.

There always in an international market. Hate to see it but maybe one day we will be like the rest of the world and have to order from the US?

But i think with cub/yanmars and now newer ones that Hoye may be in the market for their parts in the future? Also he sells JD parts for the yanmar models and there is many more of those than there are Jenuine yanmars and with JD not supporting them as much as they should maybe he can capture some of that market? They can always stock parts and get into other model tractors as well, like any other Jap model as well as some of the newer ones like Manihandra or Kioti?

Im optomistic, that they will be around for a while. Even if it means the current market and future market cant sustain the size of operation they have today there will always be a place for them to some capacity i would think?

I think there are actually only a couple of (maybe just 1) importers still importing Yanmars. The Yen value, shipping costs, and the Japan Tsunami have all made importing tractors a fairly risky business.

The good thing for the parts situation is that the tractors are so simple and were built so well to begin with. You just don't see many major failures that make the tractor scrap iron. Almost everything is fixable by the average DIY'er. This makes the Yanmar one of those tractors that will continue to be around for a long time like the 8N type tractors.. in my opinion. Ford 8Ns were made in the 40s and there is pretty much nothing that you can't get for them. Also keep in mind that there were roughly 50,000 +/- of each Yanmar model produced and there are around 100 pretty common models. There are a LOT of Yanmars in the world!

Anyway... we have committed to supply parts for Yanmars for as long as there is any kind of demand. That is almost all we do right now. In fact, we are continuously investing in our in-house capabilities so that we can produce our own parts and not rely on so many outside (foreign) sources. We can also make smaller runs of lower demand parts instead of having to order 5,000 pieces of something. Our newest toy...:dance1:

I knew you would post on this on Aaron. I hope i did not sound like i was thinking you were gonna bail on us or anything! I knew yall were in it for the haul in this Niche market you have pretty much cornered.

You basically said it better than i did. You guys do a great job and i commend you for it. Offering parts to us at decent prices and amazing shipping times and helpfull advice when we ask or call. More than some other parts suppliers that have "graced" these pages.

Havent seen you post in awhile, you either havent seen a place that you thought your 2 cents were needed or you have been really busy; i hope the latter so that you are sure to be around way into the future.

I was also thinking of these things in the terms of the old fords the N tractors as well as the 01 series like 601,801. There here simple and will be around forever.

I was gonna ask if you posted your thread on your site in response to the thread on this site, then saw your thread preceeds Smoody's. So Smoody did you post this here after Reading Aarons post on the Hoye website?

At 1 time there were a good many in the parts business. Now, I don't know how many are still in the business. Hoye, Wayne, (LMTC) Fredricks (don't know how much longer he opened a Mahindra dealership). Sorry If I've missed someone, please list list them .

heres hoping they are around for alot longer. it is already hard enough here in australia to find easy parts like filters and hoses that are available easily for the US folks. i have bought a couple of bits off hoye but thankfully my little girl has not needed anything major and hope she never does. if i do at least i know who i can rely on for parts.

We've been pretty busy here this winter. I usually stop by here at least once a day but there is usually so much good advice already posted that I just read and learn. :)
