Hi folks,
Haven't been on the forum for a while - had some heart issues now resolved. Using my FX 26 D the other day in 4wd pulling a box blade full of dirt. Next thing I know the back wheels are slipping - 4wd is not working. No sound to indicate something broke or snapped off; it just quit pulling with the front wheels and the back ones started slipping. In our soil here you don't get much done with loader or box blade without 4 wd. Any body got any ideas what my problem could be. Thanks.

Put the shift in 4 wheel drive, jack up one front tire and rotate the tire listening for unusual noises. It shouldn't even turn but maybe you can hear what is allowing it to turn. If unable to determine anything I would next look into the drive shaft. Glad to hear your health issues are better, welcome back.

Maybe the ball bearings fell out of the front end driveshaft.

I had a similar problem with my 240D except I had a popping noise under load. Turns out the front part of the driveshaft that has a spring-loaded slip joint was just in need of a good cleaning up and a little lube. No problems since. I'd start there.

Thanks for the tips guys. It is too cold for us South Texas guys right now so when it warms up I'll get out and check out the things you all have suggested. Happy New Year everyone...
