Well for those who take risk you might want to think twice and slow it down and think. Here is a recent study showing the most dangerous US jobs. Yep. Farmer and Ranchers are on the top.

The one that got me was the most injuries come out of Beet sugar manufacturing: 16.6 injuries per 100 workers. Anyone know why this is? Just wondering. I don't know what they do, but I am curious.

How did you get it to show as a link??

When I created the response, just above the text area there are a bunch of icons. One icon towards the middle has a globe with some chain links. I clicked that, a pop window shows up and I inputted the link text in there.

Ah, I got it. I had the mode on basic editor in setup. Thus I had no options at all. Now I changed it to standard I see what you mean. Thanks for the help.

This post might be better in the Rural Living, Saftey, or Owning and Operating Forums. But, it is very interesting. My B-I-L is a rancher and he has had quite a few minor injuries. It seems that more of them invovle animals than machinery. He's had a concussion and a broken collar bone, both related to horses. His daughter, one of three, got a ruptured spleen when kicked by a horse. Did not require surgery and had an uneventful recovery after a couple of days in the hospital.

I help him around the farm whenever I can and as an outsider, almost everything they do looks dangerous. I feel like I always have my head on swivel when I helping him out just keeping an eye on all the potential dangers. I don't usually say anything but I'm sure he can tell I'm a bit timid about some things, or maybe just a bit more cautious than him. I've operated most of his machinery and worked in close quarters with healthy and sick cows and I've never been hurt.

My 13 yo daughter is quite good on a horse and is apparently a great value to him when moving cows. He always calls to get her to help when we are down there. (We keep one of her horses down there on his farm). They do a lot of fast riding and cutting but she has never been injured either.
