How can I test/check the fuel pump to see if it is working?
Has 12.9v going in but 7 something on the back side. With the key turned on, should it buzz or humm or something?

Also, will this machine crank/run with the fuel shutoff solenoid disconnected?

I'm paraphrasing from the service manual: The G1800 has a fuel pump and a fuel injection pump. All the service manual says about the fuel pump is that when the main switch is turned on, a transistor causes the pump to start pumping fuel. So any time the key switch is on, the fuel pump should be pushing fuel up to the fuel injection pump. It also states (logically) that the fuel pump can be operated even with the engine being stopped (switch on)

Two things to check on fuel pump electrically.
FIRST: Connector voltage: Disconnect the 2p connector from the fuel pump. Turn the main switch key to the "ON" position, and measure the voltage with a voltmeter between the connector terminals. If the voltage differs from the battery voltage, the wiring harness or main switch is faulty.

SECOND: Fuel Pump Continuity. Disconnect the 2P connector, and remove the fuel pump. Measure the resistance with an ohmmeter between the connector terminals. If the factory specification is not indicated, the fuel pump is faulty. The fuel pump resistance should be approximately 20 ohms.

Also, I am assuming if you had fuel issues, you bled the air from the lines. Hope I didn't insult you, but had to mention. Basically loosen the bleeding screw (Near fuel injector pump on left side of engine) and turn the main switch key to the on position. When bubbles disappear from fuel coming out the plug, tighten the bleeding screw.

Don't know the answer as to whether machine will run with fuel shutoff solenoid disconnected.
