Hello, owner of an older G1800. Yesterday I started her up, let her idle to grab a beer before I started a few hours of mowing solitude. When I increased the throttle lever upward, I felt something come loose or not move up right/smoothly.

The idle was very low and now I couldn't get the RPM's up, the lever then allowed very little motion and regardless the throttle would not change. Because the grass was getting long and it was getting dark, I cut most of the property by driving slow. The mower did fine.

Something probably came loose under the lever below the dash. I removed the dash screws, then the steering wheel. Now keep in mind I'm not too mechanically inlined. I can't move the dash enough to get to what I think is what came loose. My question, what else do I need to do get the dash out of the way; what am I missing to loosen/remove? Also, what do I need to consider regarding the ignition which is still attached to the dash?

Last, anyone have the above problem with the throttle lever? What was it? Thanks.

EDIT: Still can't get dash off but I moved it up somewhat and I see that the throttle wire broke right where it connects to the small rectangular bit that is connected to the throttle lever. When it breaks there, how do you guys repair/re connect?

Roofgoat, I've looked and cannot find that throttle assy or cable online in the Kubota Parts diagrams. I think you should be able to substitute a generic solid wire control cable if yours is broke, but a local Kubota dealer's service or parts department should be able to help you. I know my throttle lever is very stiff on my G1800 too, but I think it is just the lever and not the cable.

there is a cotter pin to pull off the throttle arm

first remove screen under dash then look up under where the throttle arm is and you should see a pin to pull out then pull the throttle handle straight up

mine was stuck but it came loose

then your dash should lift enough to unplug the harness (also under the screen) giving you access to the throttle cable

The Throttle Cable is found here in the Parts Catalog for the G1800 http://kpadweb.kubota.co.jp/kpad2/PartsInfo.do?bookCd=100K0179&funcCd=&figNo=G05300&dispType=2 Under the Engine last frame.
