I am putting up new cedar siding and have a lot of gable end cuts to make. Rather than measure and free hand the cuts I made a simple jig. It works for both left and right side cuts on the shiplap siding. It is made like a track saw track, the edge of the guide is exactly where the left side of your blade cuts. Just line it up with your mark and cut. So it is perfectly accurate with no fiddling. Made from scap 1x4, 1x10, and a plywood strip.
The first picture shows the blank jig before cutting.
Second shows cut jig in position.
Third shows a cut piece of siding.
Fourth shows the back side and guide edge.
