Can anyone tell me how much fuel a 95hp Kubota uses at PTO rpm with a disc mower or round baler. A friend has a McCormick 95 and he thinks it uses too much fuel, is supposed to be more hp and use less fuel than the CX90 that he traded in.

I haven't heard any exact numbers on the 95 but on a 125 with a 13' disc mower they tell me it's around two on hills, gallon an hour roughly with six row planter and misc uses around the farm.

We've had good success with them because of the fuel economy in our area.

I'd think he's right in thinking it uses a lot of fuel, I mowed with it last Friday pulling a 7' disc mower and it used 3.3 gal per hr. It's got 680 some hrs on it so maybe it just needs to go back and have some tweaking done. His 90 had a Perkins and this one has a Cummins, so maybe that is the difference. Of course I think he should have bought Orange, but I didn't tell him that.

According to NE test lab, a Kubota M9000DT used 5.39 gal/hour at pto speed under load. Kubota M108S used 6.27 gal/hour. McCormick CX90 used 4.87 gal/hour. The McCormick CX90 had minimally less pto hp than the Kubota M9000 when tested in 1998. The McCormick CX95 was given a supplemental permit in 2003 but still listed with the CX90 data.
The load on a disc mower or round baler would be significantly less. I doubt there is any significant change in fuel compsumption between the CX90 and CX95.

If a tractor ever burns as much as what they say, get it to the repair shop!!!

Why?
If you load the engine to the point it is burning the maximum amount of fuel designed to do... that is exactly what it will do, consume a lot of fuel.
In most applications, even when you may think you are working your tractor hard, you will not be loading the engine to it's maximum output. KennyV

Very simple, operators can't maintain a constant load like they do at a max at nebraska.

You might from time to time do it but even at that it would not be for long.

Most tractors during normal use get varied load!

Honestly, I think y'all are actually saying the same thing...
