Galvanize Steel Fitting Used on Hydraulic

/ Galvanize Steel Fitting Used on Hydraulic #11
Most of the hydraulic fittings have anodized cadmium or zinc plated. Water grade fittings are hot dipped generally. Agree should use hydraulic rated fittings on hydraulics. Also seen a much higher failure rate on the newer plumbing parts. Old farm, houses and miles of buried lines.

Don't use galvanized fittings. They rust and flake off in your hydraulic system.

Do use forged fittings rated for the pressure of your system. They cost a chunk more, but high pressure oil spray from a cracked fitting is incredibly dangerous and can cause shock, septicemia, and gangrene. (Hence all those warning stickers about oil spray on your machine...)
Great photos here about what happens from a pinhole leak, and the pinhole!

(And keep your hoses in good order, too!)

All the best,

Peter
