Gannon 48" box scraper with top and tilt has issues.

New member here and I did search for this first...

I just purchased a used Ford 1220 with a Gannon brand 48" box scraper that is equipped with Gannon branded hydraulic top and tilt hydraulics. It also has a FEL or unknown type. My problem is that when I tilt the Gannon, it goes up just fine then slowly drops back down. It does this on both sides. I am new to hydraulics so I need help understanding where the problem is. My thinking is that this must be a valve issue since it does it on both sides?

This box scraper is incredibly heavy duty for something so narrow. Does any one have any idea what the model number might be? They don't show anything this heavy duty on the Woods Gannon website.

Sounds like something is leaking down. Could be the valve, or I suppose it could be the cylinder too. I am sure both could be rebuilt with new seals/etc.

I believe if you disconnect the hydraulics from the tractor, you should be able to tell if your problem is with your tractor or the cylinders themselves.

Unless you have dpcv in your cylinders most all will drop over time, you just need to determine if they are within specs.
