Garage door opener issues

I have basically the same setup as you and had the same problem. After trying everything like you I re-aligned the electric safety eyes at the bottom that shoot across to each other like others have mentioned and it's been fine ever since. May not be your problem but it's an easy check/fix.

I've checked those, lights on solid. I can interrupt light by putting something in the beam. Have read those sensors if triggered make the opener light flash.... It does not flash.

20 years was a good run. It may not be worth it to correct the issue to limp it along until the next failure. I also ditched my 16 year old Genie and had a local garage door company take out my old overhead opener and switched it to a jackshaft/high lift opener. It is fantastic and now my door goes all the way up the face of the garage and only rolls over at the 12 foot ceiling. I got all that head space back.

For anyone interested, took forever to get the rpm sensor kit via usps.... Something happened maybe a broken mail truck. In any event that sensor was the problem $12 fix.

So, basically it was detecting a false STALL and reversing? I liked those old chamberlain openers.

It would move 10 inches stop reverse 10 inches.
