Just started planting ours yesterday. So far have peas, lettuce, radish, carrots, corn and pumpkin. Some as seeds and some from starts. We are also starting to move the strawberries from and area with poor soil into the new garden area. Our raspberries are next to the herb garden at the front of the house.

My wife is on a kick for growing giant stuff this year. She bought Atlantic Giant Pumpkin, a giant corn which is suppose to grow to 24ft with 18-24" ears, and some giant squash. She's currently looking at giant tomatoes.:confused2: None of this except the pumpkin has been planted yet.

I notice you plant marigolds with your tomatoes. We have tried this with good success in the past as well. Didn't know if anyone else actually did this or not.

I had some problems with tomatoes last year. They were growing great, had plenty of green tomatoes on them, and zap, they began to die. I read everything I could about possible problems. One article mentioned marigolds. I remembered from a few years back that I got planted several marigolds in a herb garden area near the main garden. I also remember having a great crop that year. Several marigolds came back the next year and I left them in the garden.

So, I am trying them again. In addition, I hauled in new topsoil, and put some milk cartons around the stems. The link below includes some more pictures of the top soil process

Wow some good pics and some more ideas of stuff to try. Looks as if I'll be replanting some of the garden, we got around 6-7 inches of rain here in the last week and my garden is not in best of locations.

Well here is a update a month later, the rain finally let up we were getting a bunch of rain each week for about four weeks, and was not good for the garden. It has really taken off in the last week and a half, replanted some corn watermelons, onions and carrots were a total lose from all the water.
