I am tossing around some ideas in my head about what to do with my small lawn tractor. I am a firm believer that a lesser amount of moving parts equals less trouble and expense. I would like to build a "super" garden tractor that has a rear pto to power a tiller unless I could find a "needs work" tractor that already has such features. I would also like to build a small front end loader with hydraulics, and an aerator/weight box that would hook up to a custom/industry standard 3ph. I am interested in models with shaft and belt driven ptos. If I could find a rear end out of one of these models and adapt to my tractor, that would be one way. I just don't know which models had these features.

If I only had more yard to play in!

Thanks,

Chad

AC/Simplicity

Might check here. All have belt drive rear, mid and usually front PTOs. Shuttle, hydro, hi-lo and vari-drive. Sleeve and 3 pt rear hitches.

Stone,

Thanks for the reply. Looking at that site wants to make me scrap the whole building idea, sell my rear tine tiller, and the lawn tractor and by one of those to build my implements for. My whole idea behind this was to have one power plant, wheels etc... instead of a separated tiller, aerator w/wheels(not like they are any good either). It would also take up less room and look pretty cool too. In another post, I criticized the newer tractors for having more hp than they need if there is such a thing but not enough uses for them. One positive thing is the engines though, with the pressure lubricated cranks and all, should hold up much better. All of the newer machines, mine included have vertical shaft engines and wouldn't work with a tractor like simplicity. Even if I did "hack" mine up to make such a monster, it still would be not worth as much as one of those.

Dig a little further on the site. They are swapping out the older splash lubricated engines and installing briggs v-twins with pressure lube.

Might want to keep an eye on the site, they post the eBay listings pretty well and some of those old tractors only wind up selling for a couple hundred. In fact they just finished auctioning one off for the club and it brought $225.00.

I had a Simplicity Sovern that I added auxilary hydraulics to power a loader and backhoe I made for it, as well as, a hydraulic tiller. The larger Case/Ingersol tractors used hydraulic driven attachments which is what tiller I used. I would go the hydraulic route rather than a mechanical one. You may also look into getting a bigger tractor that has what you need. It was fun to do, got a lot of use out of the loader/BH and tiller. After my upgrades I still really needed a bigger tractor so I sold it then stepped up.
