Oil & Fuel Gas in Diesel Tank

Conversely, a little gasoline mixed with diesel will not hurt the diesel engine, especially the newer ones made to run on low sulfur. Drain it, save it, dump a 1/2 gallon in each diesel fill up. You will never know the difference. You would be amazed what we ran in military multi-furl engines. Filter your crankcase and hydraulic draining's and add a little of that also. Re-cycle is the name of the game today.

Drain/siphon as much as the old mix out of the tank as you can. Add up to 6 oz of 2 cycle oil to the tank to increase lubricity. Refill tank with new diesel. Then you should be OK. You can use the old mix a little at a time to get rid of it, but I would just keep it to start piles on fire. Most older design diesel engines will actually run fairly well with up to a 50/50 gas mix, if you keep the RPM's up. But once stoped, you won't be able to start it again with the gas in there.

Depending on the gasoline ratio, this could be very dangerous to use for starting fires. I had about 1 gallon of stale 2 cycle mix that I poured into my burned motor oil can and used to start some brush piles. It was very explosive at 25% even in cold weather. I wouldn't use that for fire starter. If you are afraid to use it in your gasoline automobiles, then I would take it to a recycler unless you have a flare gun to fire the brush pile that you use it on and then be sure you are upwind. Gasoline is not that great for fire starter anyway as it burns too fast for anything other than smallest of limbs to catch up.
The OP needs to inform all here the ratio of gasoline to diesel (approximately)as to better respond to ways to utilize the flammable liquid. Some seem to think it is mostly all diesel while others like myself think it is mostly gasoline.
