Firday I went to the local Dewalt service center to get a new battery.
They also sell trade Oxy-Ac gas so I asked about trading in a medium size to a larger size. The guy starts talking about "Slick Ring", I said whaaaaaat!
He showed me that the ring around the top of the bottle must have no name of any company. If it does, that bottle belongs to them and they can take it any time, any place and it is not mine to sell/trade.
Today I remember to check and sure enough there is a company name on the Ox bottle. I had traded it once and I remember the guy who changed it out.
It is quite full now, but I am not sure what to do about this.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Charlie

About 10-15 years ago around here you couldn't get a bottle of Oxy, Acetylene, welding gas, etc... filled unless it was a bottle from that company. There was a very high theft rate for gas bottles and the easiest thing for them to do was to refuse to fill anyone else's bottles. They would fill another company's if you had proof you owned it. No receipt from the company with the name on the bottle, no fill.

Now day's they have become a little more lax in their filling policy. Most of the companies around here will fill most any tank as long as the tank certification is up to date. There are still a few around though that will only fill theirs. Best thing to do is call some of the local welding supply houses and ask if they will fill it.
