I posted on this in November last. Got many good ideas from getting a generator powered by gas to putting a gas heater in each air handler in my electric heat pumps. I heat now with electric heat pumps. We also discussed using excess gas to power a car. I want to use as much of the free gas that I can. Many expressed concerns with the gas not being oderized to safely smell any leaks that might happen.

So far I have gotten specs from the drilling company. They have to inspect installation and agree it's safe. They have given me a list af 10 companies that hook these things up. The idea we are exploring most is putting a gas powered boiler in and putting hot water heat exchangers in each air handler. Thus, I don't have flames in attic and the other airhandlers. I have three air conditioners. It seems like this might be a safe easy to get heat to each airconditioner. Also, I can leave regular heat in place. Also, I don't need to run new ducts etc; just a hot water run to exchanger.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

By the way, the car idea is on hold.

I think an external boiler with water exchangers in each air handler would be the best way. Not bring the gas inside the house. Zone control would be very easy with such a setup.

Glad to hear at least on other person besides me and my heating guy like the idea.

Zone control is important. I'm total electric. A few yrs ago I added an addition to master bedroom and a big walk in closet. I zoned the bedrooms off from other part of house and added a 3rd heat pump. That left me with 3 zones of heat and air. The result; a big electric savings. It actually surprised me.
