Gasket changing on 4105 Rockshaft cover

Hello,

My JD 4105 has a very small leak after running for several hours under load on the right front corner on the rockshaft cover.
I wanted to replace the gasket and ordered a tech CD but have not received it yet. Does anyone know what it takes to remove the cover and replace the gasket meaning is it only a cover or are there interconnecting parts between it and the actual transmission. JD dealer quoted 5-6 hours plus parts..they stated the ROPS and fenders have to be torn apart. I simply did not want to start removing parts to get the cover off to replace the gasket only to screw something up. I was also wondering if a thin coat of gasket sealer should be applied to the new gasket.

I find it hard to believe that fenders & ROPS needs to be removed to R&R rockshaft housing. R&R of RS housing looks relatively simple since it appears the 4105 has no internal draft control linkages to contend with.

Yep the parts diagram looks simple though just did not want to start tearing it apart to find out there is some internal linkage to contend with. The other issue is there is a power beyond plumbed in so this would have to be removed as well.
I assume the hydralic fluid is under pressure?

Hyd's should only be pressurized when trapped in a hyd cylinder.
