I keep diesel for my tractors in 55 gallon barrels and consider it quite safe. Can gasoline be stored in these same steel barrels or is it unsafe? What are the safety rules for storing gasoline in the 50-100 gallon range? Thanks

I would talk to my local fire dept about the gasoline in 45 gal drums. Diesel is less of a concern but the gasoline could easily be ignited with a static electricity spark and burn down any building in the area. 45 gal would make a **** of a fire! Personally I think you should be looking for a proper fuel tank with venting and keep it a long way from any building or use small containers. Unless you are using a lot of fuel keeping the gasoline fresh will be a problem. Fuels are blended for different seasons so you could be having starting problems if you are using out of season gas.
