Gator 6X4 Gas Powered How Long Will It Last?

I have been the proud ownner of a new gator 6x4 for the last 6 weeks. I would like to hear from other gator owners with the gas powered 18hp engine. How many hours do you have and how long should I expect my gator to last. Thanks guys.

I have owned 3 JD Gators, 2 gas and one diesel. One of the gas engine Gators flat had the engine wear out. The Kawasaki engine was incredibly expensive to replace. However, it did not have an hour meter on it and I purchased it used without documentation as to how it was maintained prior to my purchase. (Last time I'll do that!) My guess is that with diligent and proper maintenance, it should last until you get sick of the Gator, or decide you want one for life and get a diesel one. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We have one with 3500 hours on it and another with 2800 hours that have not had the motor touched in them. I traded last year for a new one and the old one had 1500 hours on it and still ran strong with no problems at all.

Hello Nathan,
I can't tell you how long the Gator will last, but if it has a Kawasaki engine, it is definitely a top shelf engine.
Also, my dealer seems to be able to just about any part within a couple of days. I don't know if my dealer is special or if they all put this kind of effort for their customers.
So, given reasonable maintenance, I'm confident it will be around a long time.
