I've been trying to find blades to fit my 2544 and like everyone else was told by the manufacturer that there was no Gator Blade to fit my model. Well, I was looking at our local Ag supply that carries a LOT of them and found one that should fit fine with no modifications. I believe they listed it for a 44" JD, the p/n on the blade is 90 407 and it measures about 15*15/16" maybe 64th or 32nd less. Mine calls for a 15.94" blade which is right at 15*15/16", actually about .025" more. That's probably closer than I could get cutting one to length, maybe .050" shorter than factory if that. I'll measure my factory blades when get one off and compare better. I hope this helps, I don't know if that's the Gator part stamped into the blade, the only other part I have is a the agri-supply number.

The one I put on my 2544 is a bit shorter but works just fine. Really chops up that grass! Bob

Did the company give you that part#? I can still return my 90-407's...

I emailed them a couple weeks back and still got the, we don't make one for that model reply.

Yep, the 90-407 isn't right, length is almost perfect, but the hole is about 1/32" too small. I'll go and look for the 90-957 tomorrow. Does the book say it's 15.94" in length?

Been there, done that. There are no gator blades for the 2005 up. The 90-957 is for the models prior to 2005. They are 15 1/8" long. Your blades are 15.9" so you lose 7/8" of cutting length. When I got into this, I wound up buying a set for the 48" deck. They are right at 16 1/2". I put them in my chop saw and cut off 1/4" each end, re-balanced with my grinder. They work like a charm. Hold up great. As an extra note, Oregon has just come out with the Magnum. They are thicker and are supposed to do a better job of chopping.

hmmm, don't understand why they won't make one for the 44. Well, the ones I have are near perfect in length. I held it up next to the stocker and it's the same, except for maybe the tip of the cutting edge on the stock blade might stick out a hair farther, but the middle and back are the same. The hole seems to be 1/32" too small, who the #%@#$ uses a shaft that is 23/32" anyways?? I guess it would be easier to drill these out to full 3/4" than try to chop some down. I'll try one and let everyone know.

On 2nd thought, it might be easier and more accurate to hone it out to 3/4. I bet it'd be fun to get a 3/4" bit to bite and drill clean with that hole so big to start with.

Well, they do fit after drilling the holes to 3/4" but you better have a drill press and a carbide tip bit. I dulled a $20 hitatchi black bit after first hole. It is, however, doable.

I don't understand why they can't just take these blades and change the hole diameter and create a new part number for us.
