I have read many posts on here about the Gator Blades for better mulching than the 3 in 1 CC blades. I don't mulch but I wanted to know if they can be used just for discharging? Do they make them for the 44 in deck.
Sure would appreciate any input :)

I have tried the straight blade on the 42 inch cut and it is a good improvement over the 3 in 1 (I do not mulch). My next try will be the gator because of the good comments from some of the people here. They are cheap enough to just try them. They have a big wing effect all across the blade for high lift to make the grass stand tall, but then toss it back for extra cutting action. As long as it does not act like a blender, beating all the water out of the grass, it should work even better than the straight blade with just the tip as a wing. But that will have to wait until next year. Some night temperatures now approaching the upper 30's here in Vermont. Soon ready to mount the plow after another cut or two.

They should be available for the 2003 44" deck now. As my older deck model can't mulch, I just discharge with them, but the clippings come out almost like diced onions, and are very easy for my sweeper to pick up. Gators are a pretty good product for the $ IMHO. :)

HI michael from MILLERSBURG, never thought I would know someone so close to me on this forum. Iam mowerjoe from Sugarcreek Ohio. Gator Blades are very good blades to use, I have them on my slt1554, I use three of them and I do not bag, it seems to make the grass a lot finer. I had trouble finding them but I found them at Schbaugh Engine Shop off of TR 207 near Benton, I think I had $39.00 dollars in 3 Blades. I have also experimented with 2 Gators on the outside and a High Lift in the center, now if you want regular blades you can find them a little cheaper at your NAPA store than buying from tsc & Lowes. Hope you like your cc, I got mine from Mast Sales, got it for $200.00 dollars less than what I could of bought it from the box store. Now the crazy idea I have is I would like to put lights on the fenders just behind the hand grippers, the lights in front are ok but cant see the sides, I mow 4 achers and a cemetary, when I got off work on Fri. Sept 1, ate supper and mowed the cemetary, finished at eight thirty, when I cleaned the mower found that the wheels were dry, so I felt the grass and it was dry, if I had side lights I could of mowed till 1 in the morning, when I got up Sat morn it was raining, so that is my next project, if it is feasable, have to see.................................................MOWERJOE

Hi mowerjoe... so nice to know someone close on here too. I got my CC from mast sales too. I would never think of buying a machine like this from a box store. I think year i will invest in the gator blades or get a full set of high lift blades. Hope to talk to you soon! Michael
