Fellow Posters,
I just got the HPX Gator I mentioned in some earlier posts. I went with the gas engine, mainly due to cost, but I really would have liked the diesel. So far, the gas has been fine, and I like the machine. As I mentioned I am interested in doing some snow plowing this winter. We have not gotten huge amounts of snow since I have lived here (two winters) but with our hills and terrain, I want the maximum ability to move snow quickly. It is very hilly here. The Gator I have has the HDAP tires, the less aggressive ones, v. the HPAP tires. I do not yet have chains. My question is: should I get an extra set of tires to change over when it snows; should I get a set of rear tire chains, or should I get a set of Gator style tires and swap? I really want a tire that runs well on pavement if I swap, and it looks like the Gators are pretty aggressive. I likely would leave any tire change on the vehicle all winter and change out in spring. Would these give me as good of traction as a set of rear chains only? Also, I am looking now at a plow: John Deere hydraulic lift or aftermarket winch style? Thanks for the help.
