Gator w/ Yanmar Coolant Leak

I have a 2008 Gator XUV with the Yanmar 3TNV70-BJUV diesel. It only has 116 hours on it and it is slowly leaking coolant. I have noticed random drops of coolant on the floor since new, but it has never been much. It appears to be coming from the water pump. I will have to remove the plastic shroud to be sure where it is coming from on the pump. I assume it is leaking from a wheep hole?

It is a very slow leak, I've never had to add any coolant until now. The last time I used it for snow removal I was out plowing with it for about 6 hours and it was very cold, like -10 wind chill. After I parked it is when I noticed a baseball sized puddle. Maybe since it was so cold out the thermostat wasn't opening, forcing it to leak slowly?

Any ideas? JD will not warrant it, they want $500+ to replace the pump.

Possible seal with a slow leak that seems to be getting worse.

Don't panic if it is that slow.

Keep a close eye on the levels and use a drip tray to monitor the drip.

Consider the repair when you are ready, like in the summer.

It may just need a seal. Go to the dealer and look at what is involved.

Could be a DIY.

Manual is only $60-80, parts could be as little as $20.

Do the math.

And why will they not warranty it?? My dealer would have no question about fixing this for me, cannot figure out why your's would not do the same.

It is just outside of two years, so no warranty. If my garage wasn't so darn cold, I would have already pulled that cover off to see if it is coming from a seal or from the bearing in the pump. I don't see how the pump could be bad in 116 hrs.

When I bought mine, I was told warranty was two years. They actually stood behind it after the 2 year anniversary date passed, for some replacement parking brake parts which I'd told them about before expiration but they hadn't ordered in time. After 2 years, warranty is up, and it would be dealer "charity" then, as far as I'm concerned.
John, you've given your dealership a lot of business and I can see how you'd expect their support.

Have you checked to make sure all the hose clamps are tight? May try to tighten the thermostat housing bolts.

My 2010 xuv is gas but I had coolant trouble a week or so after I brought it home. The large coolant hose was barely on the pipe, maybe an 1/8" or so. At first I thought the clamp was lose. When I tightened the clamp it started leaking faster. I squeezed the hose and it came off the pump dumping coolant everywhere. There was nothing behind the clamp for it to tighten against. The hose just wasn't on far enough. My dealer gave me enough coolant to bleed and refill.

I was able to get the engine cleaned up good and figure out where the leak is coming from. The good news is that my water pump is fine, the bad news is it's leaking from two spots.

It is very slowly leaking from what appears to be the coolant drain plug in the bottom of the engine. This plug takes an allen wrench and looks like a typical oil drain on the bottom of an engine.

Next to this plug there is a 10 MM bolt and it is leaking from here also. I tried tightening both of these and they are tight, but still leaking. I am going to take them out and put some teflon tape on them. Is this suitable for an engine thread or is there something better?

It looks like I will still have to remove the water pump cover and belt to get at the 100 MM bolt with a socket so that I don't round it with a wrench.
