Gator XUV's not coming anytime soon

My JD dealer told me today that the order code in his computer would not be activated until at least 3-1-07 for the new XUV gators. No pricing has been set. Once he can order it, it will not necessarily ship immediately from stock. He was told to expect delays even after 3-1-07. He is not allowed to pre-order them either. The lack of pricing info has him nervous.

I'm finally getting close to my UTV purchase and was considering holding out another 7 weeks for a XUV. My salesman shook his head and told me not to get excited about a timely delivery.

Does this match what any of you have heard lately?

i talked to skip on ridesidebyside.com and he said he preordered one already. i went to my john deere dealer and they had the 07 trail gator in stock alraedy and was waiting for the xuv and said it would be about a month til they had any. but down here john deere is the law so they might send them here first.lol plus we have camaco right up the road about 5 miles away and they are a major john deere manufacturing plant. down here if it ain't green we don't buy it.

This correlates with what I have heard about the XUV. My dealer said very little progress had been made on a release date since the Sarasota show. Most of the information at that time was for a spring release, and March was the most likely date. This is a problem for JD as it seems they build up excitement among dealers about a new product line, show it off at the show, and then ask the dealers to wait a few months before they can even order it. My dealer has dibs on the first one released in the area from the regional rep. They even found one of the demos from the show they were trying to get, but JD would not release it to them. I suspect once March comes, JD will be ready to ship these quickly except the diesel Trail Gator which will be July or August most likely.

I don't know why a dealer would be questioning where the pricing is going to be on the XUV... We were all flat out told that the XUV would be priced very similarly to the current '06 HPX. The HPX will then be available only in one model, Gas w/Deere green & yellow colors. As always with new releases, Gold Star dealers will have availability before anyone else.

Bleedgreen: I just learned two new important things from you. First is that the HPX will become a one choice model line (gas & JD green) and that there is something called a Gold Star dealer. My dealer is a one location shop. He is relatively small and in a small town tucked up in the mountains of NC. After reading TBN posts for the last year, I can see he is probably going to be one of those eventually forced out of business. There are multi unit dealers within an hour on either side of him. He does a lot of sales so maybe that will buy him another few more years.

Do you think a Gold star dealer will actually have an XUV on his lot by 3-10-07? Are they allowed to pre-sell?

I can pre-sell them, of course our size and gold star status helps...if you are interested let me know, but if he is indeed a smaller dealer he won't be at the top of the list.

I still think we will be good on March release and delivery. To my knowledge, JD has said it would be early spring (March) when these machines are released and I have heard nothing different to date. That said, supplies might be short and the busier dealers will likely get the XUV machines first. It might be necessary to search some of the larger dealers to get a machine earlier. I suppose your dealer can deal with another dealer to get a machine. Really, this is only six-eight weeks from now and will be here fast.
