Any idea where I can get gauge wheels for a 7' Rhino landscape rake? My John Deere dealer contacted Servis Rhino and quoted over $500. Bought the rake used, paid about $500.

I maintain 2000+ feet of gravel drive, have used box blade, rake, and homemade road drag. I find it difficult to avoid the whoopty de doos, and the road drag (about 250lb) is a pain to turn around at each end of the drive. Posts on this forum seem consistent in finding gauge wheels a big help, but $500 seems too much. Welding is not one of my skills so homemade is not an option.

You might check in your area for metal fab shops. Some may not want to because it may be too small of a job, but I have found that the workers in these shops like to have side work. You can purchase the wheels and then have the rest made. Probably alot cheaper than 500.

You may be better off contacting an actual Rhino dealer that may have the wheel kit in stock. If the Deere dealer was going through an Alamo/Rhino dealer with an additional markup and special freight costs, the price could be high by a hundred or more for fairly legitamate reasons. Landpride or York wheel kits may work without too much fuss.

Or you can fab your own. I made my own and have made the wheel spindles for other TBNers. You should be able to do it yourself for under $50 for everything or just buy the spindles (the hardest part) and make the brackets yourself and spend less than $100 total.

I have the same issue with the landpride rake. @$350 for the gauge wheel set. They're well built but I can't justify the expense. Don't know how to weld so I can't really build my own. I was thinking about the fab shop but it seems to me there should be someone out there making aftermarket wheels? I don't see the need for the wheels to be rake specific.

Appreciate the responses. Haven't found anyone with Landpride or York wheel kits around here. Did find Northern Tool sells a gauge wheel kit for Howse rakes for 140. Anyone know anything about Howse equipment?

What part of the country are you in ? Howse is not one of the top three, but makes decent equipment if its just gauge wheels It shouldn't really matter ?

Within the last few months, someone on TBN made an offer to fabricate a set of wheels and supports for what I seem to recall was somewhere around $50. I don't think my mind is so far gone yet to have gotten this wrong. Does anyone else recall this, and if so, who was this generous individual???

That was me and I did make them for another TBNer. $50 plus shipping was the cost. Price included just a pair of spindles. No wheels or axles. PM me for more details.

I wondered as much. If I recall, you also posted some pics of one of your creations. Where was that - what forum, etc? I'd like to see what we would be starting with.
