Massey Ferguson GC1705
Hello,

I recently purchased a used MF GC 1705 with a 3 point hitch. I have the tractor and loader manuals, but not the hitch manual, and I don't think it's available from MF online.

Does anyone have a copy of the manufacturer's manual you can share that explains the proper adjustment of the hitch? What width implements is it spec'd to handle? Seems like it is pretty width adjustable, though on the narrower end of things, the lower hitch arms tend to angle in more.

Thanks in advance!

Ross

There is no manual that I'm aware of for the 3pt hitch itself. Whatever information Massey Ferguson publishes for that is in the tractor manual.

As for capability, it's a category 1 3 point system with limited travel. Category 1 dimensions are an industry standard so rather than tell you dimensions they simply designate it by its category.

The only adjustment you make once you've properly tightened the lower turnbuckles is the top link. There is no right answer there as its completely dependent on what you have attached to the tractor and what your doing with it.

Alright, thanks glaser104. From what I can tell, it fits attachments with mounting pins from around 16" up to around 30". Does this sound right? I'm trying to rationalize why some implements/attachments are designated for 'sub compact', due to having narrower mounting pins. Maybe some other hitches don't have quite the range?

Subcompact-specific implements are generally setup for the lower ground clearance of those tractors, as well as the decreased lift range of their 3-pt hitches. Doesn't matter for all implements, but some, like a post hole digger, could be a problem on a subcompact.

Standard width on a category 1 implement is 26" wide if memory serves. There are also some sub compact tractors that can't meet the full specifications of a cat 1 system. My dads sub compact Kubota bx1500 only spreads to 24" for example. So he is forced to turn the the mounting pins from the outside to the inside to mount equipment.

Vertical travel is the biggest limitation on a sub compact. If you walked up to a regular compact tractor you'd see they have more travel on the 3 point than a sub compact despite both being cat 1 systems
