Loader GC 1710 Loader float

Can anyone give me any advice on using the loader float position. I can't seem to find the detent. Thought I would ask before heading to the dealer.

Generally, you need a quick sharp jab forward to engage float, most new users are to gentle or fear of hurting something. Also, practice with the bucket about 1 for in the air to prevent doing wheelies till you get the hang of it.

It is easy enough to find the four positions for the lift arms with the engine off. Raise, neutral, lower, float.

No difference with engine running except you get to watch the lift arms fall.

Raise the lift arms high, and shove the stick fwd and it should lock in a detent, and the lift arms wil descend to the ground and float as you drive.

If you have a load in the bucket, you might not want to be playing with the float and suddenly pull the stick out of float. The arms will lock and may raise the rear of the tractor with a heavy load, and you might generate a hyd spike that could damage things.

everyone is right, just move stick forward like you always do to lower the FEL till it stops and then jab it forward past that point and you will feel like a click and it will go in float mode. Once its jabbed forward , it will stay in that position till you pull it back out. Since you never used it, it might feel disconcerting to push it harder then normal would, but beleive us, the float mode is there.

I know where it is, but can't say that I have ever found a reason to use it.

The backhoe on these also has a float position.
