My 2011 GC 2610 loader will not stay in float. It's fine for a few seconds the goes into down pressure and digs. Is there any valve adjustment? Any suggestions? Thanks for any advice.

Probably an issue with the spring. If your valve is similar to the GC2300 just remove the end cover and take a look. Just lower the loader, shut the tractor off and move the joystick around to relieve any pressure.. The bolt attaching the spring to the spool can also loosen off, causing issues. Mine used an 4mm Allan key IIRC.

Don't know of a solution, at least in my case. I took mine apart & cleaned it, made sure the end of the valve seats against that split ring in there, but that didn't really help. Mine will always pop out of float very quickly, so I just hold the control stick forward in float position with my right hand as I drive the tractor. Bit of a pain, but it works for me.

Have you tried checking your linkage tightness? The float has a detent in the valve. Remove the covers see which controls your up and down.give the valve body a good once over. Its not staying in detent for some reason.

If this helps--

The float control consists of a sloped ridge on the bottom of the rod/plunger, which pops into a split ring at the base of the float control's cover -- rather like a snap closure on a jacket, for example. The split ring has to be open enough to be able to get the rod to pop into it, but --in theory-- tight enough so the rod stays "locked" into position.

I was unable to hit that happy balance. The rod will pop into position when the control lever is pushed upward firmly, but as soon as I hit a bump it'll pop back out again and you get the "digging" going on. Tighten up the split ring, and I can't get it to pop in.

So, I just keep my right hand on it with constant upward pressure to hold it in float. Not that hard to do.

Here's what the innards look like -- in the first pic, you can see the split ring in the very bottom of that cover; 2nd pic shows the end of the rod that locks into the split ring. As you can see, I cleaned & re-greased it, but it still popped out easily. Maybe somebody else has a better solution.

Thank you so much for your responses. Even though I hold the joystick all the way forward it will still slip out of float. I will check that the spring is tight. I've owned the machine since new and it has always been this way. This winter is the first year I used it for snow removal and have found it to be a problem.
Issue number two is the reverse valve not releasing and the tractor continuing to creep, more so when under load (pushing with the 3ph scraper blade). Complained to the dealer and they offered no remedy. I've read in the forums that this is a standard problem. Has anyone ever figured out a solution? It could be a definite safety issue.

HST "creep":

"Has anyone ever figured out a solution?" Nope, not that I know of. Even with almost 900 hrs on it mine still does that, and, as you point out, especially when under a load. My 2310 has the single-pedal "rocker" type control; all I do is tap the pedal on the rear with my heel --lightly-- and it'll kick back into neutral.

"It could be a definite safety issue." Yep. Just gotta watch out for it & be prepared. It helps to forget about using the brake (as in a car) and use only the HST for speed control and stopping.

Regarding the float control, if your float pops out even when you're holding the control handle all the way forward, something isn't right, I think. Suggest you check for worn & sloppy linkages.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again for the response. While no words of inspiration, misery loves company.
Even after seven years I'm still amazed at the things it will do and the power it has.

Is the 2610 the one with the joystick FEL control valve lower down on the side beneath the floor? Seems like that was an "improvement" made on that model. If that's the case, really -- check the linkages-- as I think yours are longer than mine, which has the joystick mounted directly to the valve control on my upper right.

But yes, these tractors are pretty amazing in the strength department. I can't begin to recount the number of things I've been able to accomplish -- that I would no way have been able to without the help of my Little Red Beast!

The valves and QCs are above the foot rest in front of my foot. Will check the linkages and see if there might be some adjustment available there. I begrudge paying $5000+ for a front mount blower and want to be able to use the FEL in winter so am contemplating the fabrication of a self-propelled blower mounted on the bucket (similar to pallet forks). Float control will become essential.
I couldn't find a 3ph Cat 1 blade with any substance and features I wanted (offset, end caps/box blade, shoes) so had a friend build one for me. It's really versatile. I'll try to figure out how to post some photos in the near future.
